Maria Perez, RYT is an ISHTA (Integrated Sciences of Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda) certified yoga instructor. Maria — a former PR professional and retail entrepreneur — began her yoga journey in 2008 and soon became inspired to share her passion for yoga with children.

Maria PerezMaria's desire is to serve as a guide to children, helping them learn to tune into their bodies and emotions through yoga, meditation and breathing... in a fun, inspiring and compassionate manner. Her intention is to communicate to her students that yoga is not a competition, but an individual activity. And above all, that yoga is fun and can help children feel better about themselves.

Maria is currently leading yoga programs at Cohen Children's Medical Center working with hospitalized children and at the Port Washington Children's Center teaching 3-5 year olds. Additionally, this past summer Maria served as the yoga specialist for the AT LAST! summer camp program in Port Washington, teaching 3rd through 8th graders.

Maria's classes include age-appropriate yoga poses, games, breathing techniques, guided meditation, storytelling, music, and relevant group discussions on how to be calm, happy and compassionate.

Maria's background in community service includes teaching yoga to children as a volunteer for the Boys & Girls Club, Girl Scouts and local public elementary schools.
